We have an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Lead, Supply Chain based at our Blackpool manufacturing site. DePuy CMW at Blackpool specialises in the manufacture of bone cement and related products supplied to a global market for joint reconstruction surgery.
You will be given the opportunity to lead the continuous improvement strategy, at the Blackpool site, fostering a progressive culture, building capabilities, coaching lean thinking and embedding operational excellence to deliver world class supply performance.
The role will also lead the continuous improvement programme at our Leeds site, which specialises in patient specific implants. You will play a lead role, as a member of the senior leadership team, in shaping and implementing business transformational strategy at both sites.
What you’re great at:
You will be the SME who will be responsible for the introduction and implementation of operations improvement concepts within the organization. A true change agent, you will bring your high-level knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing to support delivering significant change across manufacturing, quality, engineering and new product development.
You will be the Johnson & Johnson Production system champion at the site, responsible to embed and grow it’s principles as our operating system and culture.
You will have sound and timely decision-making utilizing appropriate tools and a systematic approach. You will be an inspirational leader who will be great at delivering and improving manufacturing processes in a strategic manner whilst driving innovation. Developing and implementing business transformation strategies to deliver best in class performance will be second nature to you whilst continually challenging the status quo and bring in new ways of thinking.
You will thrive on engaging and coaching teams to play a leading role in this transformational change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and achieving sustainable high standards of manufacturing and supply chain performance.
As the Continuous Improvement Lead, your typical day may include:
Actively encourage, promote and facilitate implementation of innovative solutions to ensure quality while delivering lower costs and shorter lead times. Facilitating kaizen activities in each value stream to measure, analyze, design, and implement sustainable manufacturing and business process improvements that optimize capacity, reduce lead-time, minimize inventories, maximize fill-rates, maximize process flow, and maximize productivity.
Driving the lean philosophy throughout the site by supporting, mentoring and coaching employees in increasing their understanding and knowledge of lean principles and techniques. Together with:
• Facilitate & Lead A3 problem solving activities for each Value Stream
• Conduct production capacity analysis for each value stream
• Develop and manage the transformation of process layouts for manufacturing processes
• Embed a sustainable standard work programme for all levels across the site.
• Provide support to manufacturing as required to meet the business targets and objectives; ensuring the plants processes operate at optimum
• Work with the R&D and New Product Introductions Group to ensure lean principles are considered in the early phases of new product and process design
You will be degree qualified with an extensive proven working experience in multi-disciplined environment and a thorough knowledge and application of continuous improvement methodologies. A proven track record in delivering business benefits to achieve World Class Manufacturing & Lean Manufacturing is essential.
An ability to communicate with all levels in the organisation and developing people will come as second nature and you will have the ability to lead complex change successfully. You will be able to design, influence and execute strategy to a high level together with financial acumen.
Preferably certified to Black Belt level or relevant lean qualification and it would be advantageous to have Project Management experience.
