The Manager of Biocompatibility will lead the toxicological and biocompatibility evaluation of products and technologies required for product approvals and patient safety across the franchise of products. 

You will interface with key internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities to deliver robust product assessments that meet regulatory approval and ensure patient safety. In this role you will serve as the member of the Toxicology and Biocompatibility leadership team in developing an industry leading organizational team in developing an industry leading toxicology and biocompatibility organization focused on innovation and patient safety. 

  • Manage the interdisciplinary Analytical Chemistry/Biocompatibility Team
  • Plan, implement, evaluate and document chemical analyses, toxicology assessments and biocompatibility assessments
  • Prepare test reports and analytical reports
  • Introduce / develop new research methods
  • Contribute to global programs on the subjects of residue analysis and biocompatibility and assist with the global harmonization of methods and  evaluations 
  • Support the Senior Director of Toxicology and Biocompatibility
  • Budget processing 
  • Supervise domestic and foreign analytical laboratory testing
  • Assume responsibility for various projects
  • Member of standards committees
  • Update and maintain existing, and prepare new, test instructions 

  • University degree (masters or PhD) in biology, biochemistry, toxicology, analytical chemistry or surface/interface chemistry, in each case with a specialism relating to medical devices  
  • At least 5 years of corresponding professional experience in medical technology. Experience in the planning and implementation of studies in the areas of residue analysis, toxicology and/or the biocompatibility of medical devices
  • Managerial experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to serve as a change agent to identify needs and solutions, implement and support the transformation of a function is required
  • Experience with leading multiple projects, managing priorities and resource management is required 
  • Personal qualities such as a talent for organization, initiative, reliability, customer orientation, decision-making capacity and the ability to think and work in an interdisciplinary manner
