The Advanced Engineering team leads the delivery of automated solutions for existing and new products within the global Vision Surgery supply chain.  The team works in harmony with the manufacturing sites to understand the needs of the business and then develops automated solutions to support product growth, product quality and cost reduction targets.  This in reality means working at the cutting edge of automation technology with selected equipment & technology suppliers.  All the roles within the team require a commitment to work globally, travelling to manufacturing sites and the automation solution providers to make the projects happen.  Great team work & excellent collaboration skills are a must, as is a can-do attitude.


Principal Project Engineer

·         Responsible for line leadership of strategic project engineering team based in Limerick and Puerto Rico

·         Lead capital equipment programs from inception through to hand over to production operations

·         Responsible for time - quality - cost aspects of capital projects

·         Requirements definition, supplier identification and selection, equipment design oversight (mechanical focus), project management, equipment performance assessment and installation


Travel Requirement - 30%+

 



Qualifications

Essential

·         Strong mechanical engineering background with an understanding of Controls & Software Engineering & Process Engineering

·         Strong process excellence background

·         Demonstrated capital project delivery within a medical device / pharmaceutical area

·         Demonstrate strong collaboration and emotional intelligence skills

·         A can-do attitude and a willingness to lead from the front

·         Significant experience of high-speed automation including multi-axis control, robotics and vision systems

·         Demonstrated global line leadership capability

·         Demonstrated stakeholder management capability

 

Desirable

·         Knowledge of Design for Manufacture / Design for Automation principles

·         Knowledge of GAMP 5 Principles
