  1. Overall responsibilities

The objective of the program is to attract future talents to the Johnson&Johnson – DePuy Synthes Engineering, Science and Technology (EST) organisation within the DACH network. The program lasts 24 months and is designed to empower graduates by mentorship and diverse rotations within different sites and areas of activity within the EST operations. This will give the graduate in-depth experience in alternate roles in an accelerated and structured way which ultimately culminate in defining a clear direction for future career development. The program offers 4 rotations of 6 months in the following departments – Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Technology, Strategy and Deployment – and in different locations and business units.

The Associate Graduate Engineer under general supervision conducts assignments involving a specific phase of an engineering project which may include but not limited to manufacturing cell transfers, product transfers, new product introductions, asset replacements, asset decommissioning, manufacturing capacity increase, new technology deployment and continuous improvements. The incumbent may assist in determining objectives and planning schedules of multiple projects. The Associate Engineer will utilize Engineering tools and practices for the effective and efficient development, transfer and maintenance of products/processes throughout the product lifecycle. The incumbent will also utilize Engineering principles and problem-solving skills to improve and maintain products/processes that are aligned with the overall EST and business vision.

  1. Position duties and responsibilities

May include but not limited to:

— Participate in engineering projects including developing and executing to the plan and schedule and meeting the goals and objectives of the project.  Assists in tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting meetings, and documenting and communicating progress to management.   

— Participate in investigations, develops plans and executes tasks to solve process problems including non-conformances (NC), complaint investigations, audit observations and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

— Provide day to day support and direction to production such as, but not limited to turning, milling, drilling, EDM, finishing, packaging etc. as required. 

— Execute engineering studies and process validation protocols and summary reports (Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification, Performance Qualification, Computer Software Validation and Test Method Validation).

— Identify and assists in process improvements for existing manufacturing processes utilizing appropriate engineering principles and standard strategies such as, Lean and Six Sigma principles.

— Assist in gage design, measurement system analysis, and gage implementation as required.  Is able to use various types of measuring instruments including, micrometers, calipers, comparators, tensile testers, coordinate measurement systems etc. to support engineering testing.

— Assist in developing fixtures and designing tools and has the ability to express and implement ideas with tool designers.

— Support new equipment acquisition efforts including user requirement specifications, machine selection, installation, validation, employee training, and other related equipment responsibilities as required.

—  Assist in the development of manufacturing and inspection procedures.

— Participate in cross-functional teams which may include, but are not limited to Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Product Development.

—  Act as a liaison to vendors with regards to contracted products, tools & fixtures, and their manufacture.

— Ensure production equipment meets all relevant national and corporate Health, Safety and Environment requirements through completion of required assessments and documentation.

— Performs other related duties, as required.


Education Requirements*:


— Mechanical, biomedical, industrial or materials engineering degree – FH or University
