The Data and Lab Manager will join the Oncology Discovery team to facilitate advancing cutting-edge small molecules and biologics for the treatment of cancer. The position is open for temporary hiringfr 1 year.
In this dual function, s/he will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and applying data to support multiple research project teams as well as acquiring and updating equipment, managing laboratory reagent stocks, and providing leadership in safety and training for staff to ensure efficient functioning of the laboratories. Previous experience in reviewing and analysing complex data sets, and familiarity with cell culture, basic cell/molecular biology and biochemical assays are required. Troubleshooting skills are essential.
S/he will demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple databases and providing input to several stakeholders within the department and with external partners. S/he will demonstrate solid leadership and organizational skills, work effectively in a team focused environment, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills (in English). The candidate will be strongly motivated and dedicated, will show initiative and work independently. Experience in drug discovery is an asset.
Primary responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
  • Coordinating requests for routine profiling of compounds with external vendors
  • Managing all incoming data, reviewing for inconsistencies, and maintaining databases
  • Providing data interpretation and generating reports on request
  • Making recommendations for software, hardware and data storage upgrades
  • Acquisition, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Ordering and managing lab supply stocks
  • Laboratory space management
  • Organizing shipping of biological and chemical agents
  • Organizing training for laboratory staff
  • Carry out duties as departmental safety officer

  • A Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent in laboratory science, biotechnology, biology, or similar; or
    equivalent experience in industry/lab/academic setting
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping abilities
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals and teams
  • Working fluency in English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
