Medical Devices & Diagnostics Global Services, LLC., represents more than 60 manufacturing sites and 26,000 employees who plan, source, manufacture and deliver high-quality and cost-effective medical products to our customers around the globe every single day. Work of the MD Supply Chain supports a multitude of product platforms, new products and delivery systems that are used in a wide range of procedures throughout the healthcare industry, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, minimally invasive surgery, hospital sterilization, clinical laboratory testing, diabetes management, joint replacement surgery and vision care.


We are currently looking for a


Manufacturing Engineer for External Manufacturers (m/f)


located in Norderstedt, supporting our manufacturing operations performed by external manufacturers with technical and sustaining support to ensure continuing supply of purchased Finished Goods.


Main responsibilities:

  • Apply comprehensive and diverse knowledge of engineering / business principles to a broad range of assignments
  • Strong collaboration with external suppliers to validating process changes related to mechanical devices, and replacement of materials or tooling
  • Providing technical support to assist in establishing and maintaining GMP compliant processes and initiate/lead/support cost improvement projects and business continuity initiatives
  • Plan, conduct and direct business unit level engineering/business or External Manufacturer projects in end-to-end process
  • Coordination of activities from other technical support staff and delegation their assignments as required
  • Complete component, device or system qualifications to meet international regulatory and quality standards (e.g. ISO, RoHs, etc.)
  • Stakeholder management (internal and external business partners) regarding expectations, satisfaction or quality of results
  • Acting as Expert to review, interpret and explain documents such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering is required in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 9+ years of relevant working experience in manufacturing or mechanical field of engineering positions is preferred
  • Profound experience and practical know how within process development /controlling and validation (e.g. control plans, pFMEAs, SPC, etc.) is required
  • Experience in working with an FDA and/or European regulatory environment is preferred
  • Ability to manage self, develop and work with cross-functional partnerships (R&D, Commercial Operations, Quality, RA, etc.) is mandatory
  • Good project management skills
  • A deep understanding of GMP and ISO regulations is preferred, furthermore is a certification on Six Sigma and/or Lean Green or Black Belt welcome
  • Process Excellence training or certification is highly desired (Six Sigma)
  • Experience with packaging of sterile and non- sterile devices is highly desired.
  • Experience working with global supply chain, both EU and non-EU based raw material and finished goods suppliers is highly desired.
  • Prior experience participating in process efficiency improvement, technology transfer into base business, or cost reduction projects is highly desired
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skillsin English and German, strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • This position may require up to 30% travel and will be based in Norderstedt.
