Contract and Grant Project Manager
Position overview:
The ExPoint CGPM (Contract & Grants PM) will
  1. Be directly supporting the projects receiving external funding during the whole project lifecycle process, focusing on the project-specific requirements and contractual commitments as agreed with Government Agencies, NGOs or other non-profit organizations.
  2. Support shaping, building, applying, sustaining and continuously improving project management foundations to support flawless execution of external funding through Contracts & Grants with Government and Non-Government Agencies.
Primary duties:
Main tasks for the CGPM include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitating team communication and coordinating team activities by maintaining and tracking cross-functional deliverables and milestones
  • Preparing, organizing and facilitating communication to appropriate Authorities providing Contract or Grant funding to the project
  • Preparing and organizing cross functional project meetings and status meetings to gain stakeholder buy in and alignment
  • Manage and coordinate project related documentation and information
  • Own, drive and/or provide subject matter expertise to continuously improve the execution of Contract and Grants at Janssen.
  • Developing, maintaining and executing deliverables described in the contractual requirements (BARDA, NIH, IMI, H2020,…). Specific Deliverables are depending on Contract or Grant Type but may include:
    • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
    • Project Plans and Schedules
    • Risk Management Plan/Risk Register
    • Earned Value Management Reporting
    • Technical Reporting
    • Time Reporting
    • Contract Modifications
    • Subcontracting

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required
  • An advanced degree (i.e. MS, MBA, PharmD, PhD, etc.) in Pharmaceutical, life sciences, or related fields is highly preferred.
  • Professional project management certification or degree is a plus.


  • At least 3 years of industry/business experience including at least 1 year in pharmaceutical R&D is required.
  • A working knowledge of the drug discovery and/or drug development process is required.  Prior experience with external funding mechanisms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, resolve conflict, and influence teams without formal authority, is required.
  • Successful experience managing or leading global and/or virtual teams is highly desirable, especially if done within a matrix organization.
  • Record of successful governance body and/or stakeholder management preferred.
Up to 10% global travel may be required.
