Johnson & Johnson’s Global Tax Department is currently recruiting for a Director of Global Tax Planning for the Pharmaceutical Sector responsible for driving tax planning strategies related the Pharmaceutical Sector, managing tax risks and monitor the Janssen effective tax rate. This position will report to the VP of Global Tax Planning for the Pharmaceutical Sector.

 

The successful candidate must be a self-directed individual able to effectively develop and lead a high-performing organization.   He/She must be able to exercise a high level of independent judgment, execute activities in a highly complex environment, and possess strong communication, business partnering and people management skills.  Specific duties will include:

 
 

Advise business partners on tax implications for the following:

  • Intellectual property planning and sourcing strategies including advising on financial flow design for new products and US Subpart F strategies.
  • Restructuring and large intercompany transactions, including assisting in supply chain network configuration exercises and set-up of new business models
  • International transfer pricing strategies and activities, including audits, MAP procedures and APA/ negotiations
  • Implications of changing global tax environment including BEPS requirements, EU initiatives, and tax reform in major countries
  • Licensing & Acquisition transactions including: acquisitions, license agreements, collaboration agreements, distribution agreements and co-promotion agreements and divestments
 
 

Provide oversight for the following processes and activities:

  • Pharmaceutical inter-company pricing process
  • Global Effective Tax Rate for the Pharmaceutical Sector including business forecasts, quarterly results and Long-Range Financial Plan
  • Pharmaceutical Principal Companies activities and substance
  • Intercompany contractual framework for the Pharmaceutical Sector
 

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and advocating for tax legislation in major countries
  • Initiating or supporting tax rulings and managing tax incentives of Pharmaceutical Principal companies
  • Developing an effective team by recruiting, developing, and monitoring performance
  • Provide coaching and training to staff to maximize their potential
  • Establish a highly engaged culture that is focused on compliance, continuous improvement and staff development
  • Identify and implement industry best practices for planning processes
  • Collaborate with other groups in the J&J Global Tax Department to drive important initiatives
  • Supporting treasury intercompany structuring & transfer pricing
 
 


Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Law, Finance or accounting
  • Master in taxation preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years corporate tax experience, including tax international, compliance and reporting
  • MST/JD/MBA preferred, CPA/CMA preferred
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical Sector preferred
  • People management experience required
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills required
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of J&J Tax and Accounting policies, procedures and requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of US corporate taxation preferred
  • Knowledge of Belgian corporate taxation preferred
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing preferred
  • Knowledge of US GAAP preferred
  • Knowledge of Dutch or French preferred
  • Ability to interface with government tax officials, external advisers, employee organizations and peers, and internal tax and business leaders at all levels
  • Up to 10-20% travel required
