Post-Doctoral Scientist,Single Cell Sequencing Bioinformatics
Requisition ID: 1700214162W
Single Cell Sequencing Bioinformatics
We are looking for an outstanding scientist to join a partnership between Janssen and leading academic laboratories. Our project aims to develop and apply new approaches in single cell RNAseq analysis, to advance our understanding of the immune system, and to support the development of innovative drugs to address unmet clinical needs.
The research focus of our project is on characterization of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease, with a potential for applications in other disease areas. In this project, you will work with single cell samples derived from animal models for Alzheimer’s disease to quantify and characterize the immune cell populations involved in the development of AD.
We are looking for a scientist with in-depth expertise in (single cell) sequencing analysis and general bioinformatics skills.
This position is supported by a grant of the VLAIO (Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship) agency, which aims to develop and implement new capabilities to study the immune system, in collaboration with industry and academia experts and will have a duration of one year with a possibility to extend to additional two years in a follow-up study.
This position will allow you to develop highly valued skills in an exciting scientific field, and it will be strongly encouraged to publish your work, in agreement with all the project partners. A competitive remuneration will be offered.
- You have a PhD in computational biology or related disciplines (or will defend your thesis within 3 months).
- You have in-depth experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data (with a focus on transcriptomics) and/or analysis of other single cell technologies.
- You have an active interest in new technology development and advancing the state of the art.
- Drug discovery experience, in fields such as neuroscience or immune-oncology, is a plus.
- Experience in immunology, especially T-cell biology, is a plus.
