The Janssen R&D BioTherapeutics team (JBIO) is searching for an Associate Director, Portfolio Management to support the management of their portfolio which spans  large molecule projects across the therapeutic areas of Janssen R&D. This role will report to the JBIO Portfolio Leader.   Janssen’s BioTherapuetics is a member of the larger Discovery, Product Development and Supply (DPDS) organization. This role will be responsible for supporting execution of portfolio projects in alignment with productivity goals established by the  JBIO Senior Leadership team (SLT) and the Therapeutic areas.  Several key functions of this role will be to work closely with the JBIO project team leaders and  disease area focus groups to ensure scientifically rigorous and efficient execution of projects, integration of new platforms into projects, and clear communication of portfolio needs to these teams.  This person will ensure that project leads have completed essential reports and the quality of data in reports reflect scientific rigor.  This person will also need to facilitate resolution of resource and/or portfolio alignment issues. The successful individual must establish excellent lines of communication and build trusting relationships with key stakeholders. Success in this role is defined by 1) Establishment of effective working relationships and communication lines with JBIO Team Leads, Therapeutic Areas (TAs) stakeholders & other key scientific stakeholders 2) Portfolio execution and 3) Contribution to development and implementation of robust portfolio management tools

Essential Functions:

  • Responsibility for portfolio management of disease area focus group projects
  • Facilitate portfolio management with key Therapeutic Area stakeholders
  • Facilitate training and resources for JBIO team leaders
  • Support development and implementation of portfolio analytics and visualizations


Qualifications
  • Ph.D.  degree and/or equivalent experience in life science or related field
  • 6 or more years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D is required
  • Experience in biologics drug discovery is preferred
  • Strong competency in stake-holder management is required
  • Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills are required
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a matrixed and dynamic environment
