Janssen BioTherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated candidate to develop mechanistic models to guide development of early stage biologic programs.
Mechanism and physiologically-based translational models and quantitative system pharmacology (QSP) models can be of great value in supporting target selection, drug design and candidate selection of therapeutics.  Development of such models requires in-depth understanding of the biology and focused modeling time.  The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in the area of cancer immunotherapy, and will use mechanism-based modeling and simulations as a tool to address critical PK and PK/PD related questions to enable time-appropriate decision-making for in biologics programs.  A successful candidate will help to develop novel mechanism-based modeling/simulations to guide development of early stage biologics programs and drive innovation to identify critical knowledge gaps.
At Janssen, postdoctoral fellows are trained by expert scientists working at the cutting edge of drug discovery.  Janssen BioTherapeutics supports a wide range of therapeutic areas including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular and Metabolism, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases.  The successful candidate will learn from and contribute to an industry-leading drug discovery program that has brought numerous quality therapeutics to patients and significant contributions to human health. They will partner throughout the Janssen R&D organization and participate in cross-functional team discussions, gaining insight into many aspects of biotherapeutic discovery and development.  The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to author papers on their research and present novel findings at scientific conferences.
Key Objective:
To develop complex mechanistic and minimal physiological pharmacokinetic models to help guide development of early stage project in the cancer immunotherapy area.

Suitable candidates will have a Ph.D. or Pharm. D. in pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology, biological sciences, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or a related field.  Research experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
  • Experiences with quantitative approach in describing PK/PD systems using preclinical and/or clinical data
  • Strong background in cancer immunotherapy or proficiency in NONMEM or similar modeling and simulation software
  • Experience in biologic therapeutics
Candidates must display an ability to independently design and execute research.  In addition to a broad knowledge of clinical pharmacology and biomedical engineering, we are seeking an individual with deep intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
