The Director of Women’s Health is responsible for providing strategic and scientific expertise in the development and implementation of programs that support the overall aims of Women’s Health at Johnson & Johnson.  This strategic medical-scientific leader will be responsible for developing and implementing projects which enhance the value of J&J products and services for women, under the direction of the VP of Women’s Health.  She/He partners with external stakeholders to develop a policy agenda which supports women’s health.  He/She works with R&D and functional representatives to identify and evaluate innovation opportunities to advance women’s healthcar

 

This leader is a key partner to the VP of Women’s Health in working across the J&J Enterprise and externally to identify and act on opportunities to leverage J&J’s collective assets to positively impact women’s health through ethically based, science and data driven approaches.  A critical role of this leader is to act as a subject matter expert in health matters related to women, provide guidance to internal stakeholders on women’s health related topics including to the legal department, communications, commercial team, and others as appropriate.

  • Works with R&D Teams and related internal and external stakeholders to  develop data and programs to generate actionable medical insights related to gender use of J&J products.
  • Build and maintain productive strategic relationships with internal and external business partners (principal investigators, thought leaders, policy makers).
  • Quickly assess and interpret data, articulate complex scientific issues clearly and concisely to multiple functions-both scientific and non-scientific, such as business leaders, marketing, communications, legal, and others.
  • Project leadership:  Partners with project management in developing project plans, developing timelines and budgets, and ensuring projects meet their goals to generate actionable medical insights appropriate for women.  

  • Change management: Anticipates potential roadblocks and works with WH Team and stakeholders to identify and remove barriers.  Champions a gender equity mindset internally and externally.

  • Subject matter expertise:  Uses deep subject matter expertise to guide program development, decision making, and data generation to facilitate the generation of J&J actionable medical insights for women’s health. 

 

Qualifications

MD or DO degree is required.

A Specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology; or general medicine training with subspecialty training in cardiovascular medicine, oncology, or other medical subspecialty; experience in women’s health strongly preferred.

A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant work experience required, preferably including both clinical care, and healthcare leadership is required .

Clinical research experience preferred.

Demonstrated ability to build organizational capabilities, lead change, and work productively in settings of uncertainty. 

Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines in a matrix organization and successfully lead by influence.

Ability to communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds, both scientific/medical and non-scientific/medical.

Excellent written, oral and presentation skills are required.
