The R&D Engineering Services Manager will manage and lead an R&D team responsible for the ongoing support of commercially released Class I-II medical devices, Surgical Equipment and associated reusable instrumentation and sterile, single-use, disposables.  The R&D Engineering Services Manager will set clear expectations for direct reports and establish roles and responsibilities to manage deliverables to meet business commitments.  This individual will serve as a strong technical and leadership mentor to technical staff and coach teams to execute aggressively and predictably.  The R&D Engineering Services Manager will have responsibility for the creation and maintenance of a best in class R&D Engineering Laboratory.  This individual will have responsibility for managing a team responsible for the ongoing support of commercial product.  This individual will hire, develop, mentor and train engineering talent and will foster the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance, and actively support our compliance program-related initiatives and activities. This individual must possess a true passion for team development, be able to develop a strong network across functions and challenge people and project teams to successfully achieve goals.

  • Coordinating/scheduling equipment calibrations and/or qualifications
  • Coordinating/scheduling Preventative maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Enforce good lab practices/cleanliness
  • Owner for audits, audit observations and actions
  • Owner for R&D testing/lab-related CAPAs
  • Oversee test method validation and lab site Master Validation Plan
  • Partner with Facilities to develop lab related Workplace Innovation / facility upgrades
  • Manage team responsible for the maintenance of commercial product.
  • Plan and Manage overall CPD work flow, utilizing external contractors as required

  • A minimum of B.S. in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience in product development is required.
  • Master’s Degree (business or related field) preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in the design, development and commercialization of Class I-II medical devices, Surgical equipment, disposable, minimally invasive, or handheld surgical devices is preferred.
  • Previous experience with managing engineering teams required.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are required.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative and resourceful.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership, management and team work qualities.
  • Knowledge around lab requirements for the medical device segment is preferred.
  • This position is in Raynham, MA and may require up to 10% travel including international.
