Johnson & Johnson is in the process of transforming from a largely waterfall approach to agile product development shifting over time from a project-based resource model to an agile persistent team/product model. It is important for candidates to understand this is a journey in a large-scale organization which is anticipated to take 3-5 years.
As a Manager in the Test Engineering team, you will be responsible for the delivery of testing engineering projects including, planning, delivery, scope of work creation and approval. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Engage with Technical teams and Business stakeholders to identify appropriate services required for an implementation, plan and execute the services with appropriate business value including high level quality at a competitive cost,
- Define standard test automation blue prints and processes for multiple technology and business environments,
- Ensure vendor resources develop the risk based required testing artifacts as expected per the J&J Technology policies, procedures and trainings,
- Analyze need for testing different solutions/systems including Supply Chain (e.g. SAP/ERP) and other packaged applications, systems functionality and business processes,
- Provide testing oversight from a strategy and delivery perspective for major engagements,
- Ability to generate and build end-to-end test scenarios and test scripts, ensuring all test package is complete,
- Ensure quality checks are being adhered to and effective testing coverage is taking place,
- Assist SMEs with User Acceptance Testing for data generation, execution and defect reporting, test environment management, training on tools and practices
- Work with Business and Supplier partners to identify the scope of the work; develop a scope of work documents and process them through approval; working with the vendor partners to provide experienced and skilled resources at the required locations to deliver work,
- Lead the overall Test engineering activities for projects,
- Act as the point of contact with the development / support teams as well as the Technology Services team to resolve project related issues,
- Work with and educate the delivery project team on the services, strategy and process to engage application services,
- Proactively determine and resolve issues that would present a risk to delivery of the service,
- Provide guidance and support as the SDLC evolves, and ensures alignment to SDLC and other J&J Standards
- Measure SLAs and critical metrics as required by the teams,
- Define project plans to deliver the project, monitors and reports the status of the execution of the projects ensuring projects are delivered within the agreed upon scope, budget and meeting compliance and quality requirements,
- Work with SAP & other platform teams to define sustainable regression test strategies with a high focus on automated testing,
- Work to define and execute the right level of performance testing based on release changes; provide guidance to the project teams in the development of testing strategies, testing process and standard methodologies,
- Additional responsibilities include educating and supporting project teams in the use of testing methodologies and tools such as JIRA-XRAY, Automation frameworks, HP ALM, & other automated tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Proven hands-on project management/delivery.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience of the following:
- Working within an FDA regulated environment
- Working with Test Center of Excellence
- Automated Testing Tools and processes
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with:
- Packaged applications like Salesforce, Workday etc.,
- Hands on experience with Test automation/performance testing
- Understanding of end to end Pharma / Medical Devices interactions and technologies, business processes/IT architecture,
- Experience leading Agile Transformations for Test teams applying an Agile framework (Scrum, Kanban, Nexus, SAFe) and an understanding of CI/CD, DevOps processes
- In-depth understanding of TDD/ATDD/BDD principles and of building quality into the process, coupled with Agile tool experience such as J-Bhave / Cucumber / FitNesse,
- Continuous Integration tool experience (such as Jenkins) and other Agile tools (such as Bitbucket/Artifactory),
- Agile Application Lifecycle Management tool experience (such as JIRA),
- Ability to identify areas for continuous improvement and working with teams to implement these improvements,
- Thorough and detailed understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile,
- Highly motivated go-getter, with a can-do attitude, that can operate with limited direction and supervision, and who can ensure speed to value,
- Experience as an effective communicator, team builder, and negotiator with strong persuasive skills required to make the abstract clear, negotiate with, develop, influence and lead at all levels within the organization.
- Master’s degree is preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering,
- Experience with Performance Center or Load Runner,
- HPALM Administration experience,
- Solid attention to detail and a thorough approach to testing methodologies and quality assurance,
- Experience working in an Agile development framework (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, ITIL),
- Ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business focused environment,
- Ability to make decisions through thorough analysis and process excellence (PE).
