CAR-T is a completely new class of treatment, involving a complex process for the hospitals who will deliver it. Several investigational CAR-T products will come to the market in the coming years, creating a new kind of burden for hospitals who will need to be certified. While efficacy data will remain essential, the customer experience, and the ease of getting set up will play a big role in the choice of treatment.


Janssen’s objective for CAR-T is to deliver the best-in class Go-To-Market (GTM) to delight our customers and differentiate from competitors. Due to the nature of CAR-T and the necessity to create a different kind of customer relationships, new roles are required to deliver the EMEA GTM.


A strong EMEA COE will act as a key interface between global and OpCos and between Supply chain and customers, represented by the Cell Therapy Account Lead (CTAL). The COE Lead will set up and head this COE.

Your Responsibilities:

The COE Lead drives the success of site certification and commercial operations for EMEA in order to deliver excellent customer and patient experiences by:

  • Setting the strategy of the COE and overseeing its execution
  • Leading capability development programs for CTALs
  • Ensuring close alignment with the Supply Chain, Commercial and support functions
1. Sets strategic direction for COE in alignment with Global, EMEA Commercial and Supply chain
  • Defines and implements governance of the COE
  • Member of the CAR-T IBVT
2. Develops CTAL training curriculum and provides training and support to CTALs
  • Develops capability building program for CTALs and designs and supports the delivery of continuous training on specific CAR-T account management skills and tools
  • Supports CTALs in business case evaluation, throughput planning and account planning (including customer service activities)
  • Ensure coordination of COE to deliver best in class customer experience
3. Delivers site certification, ensuring excellence, simplicity and flexibility
  • Collaborates closely with Supply chain V2V planning lead, Quality and OpCo-based CTALs to plan and execute site certification
  • Establishes standards and best practices in alignment with globally defined protocols
  • Coordinates with legal to ensure consistency and adequate capacity of legal resources
  • Ensures proper allocation of IT resources to enable site certification and set-up (e.g. connection of IT system and Vineti platform)
  • Ensures any escalated issues during certification are timely addressed and resolved
4. Contributes to the overall success of CAR-T operations in EMEA
  • Sets up procedures and service level agreement to report and manage issues
  • Ensures adequate staffing of support functions for coordination of issue resolution 
  • Handles escalated issues, triages risks and defines options for issue resolution
  • Acts as key link to supply chain for any issues regarding cell processing or quality
  • Ensures focus on enabling smooth patient journey and patient support services
5. Tracks program milestones and monitors performance KPIs for EMEA sites
  • Maintains dashboard for reporting
  • Conducts biweekly meetings with CTALs/CVTs to monitor operations, understand potential issues for escalation, communicate issue resolution, share best practices
  • Reports and escalates new, unresolved and cross-functional risks and issues to management (IBVTL, Supply Chain leadership) as needed
  • Implements established policies, system monitors and controls to ensure the successful management and reporting of all corporate initiatives in the program
  • Provides both verbal and written communications regarding program status, risks and issues as and when requested
6. Manages EMEA commercial operations via EMEA commercial operations manager
  • Oversees EMEA commercial operations manager
  • Oversees prioritisation processes among slot requests and steps up to make arbitrages when needed
7. Contributes to process improvement
  • Provides insights for continuous improvement
  • Ensures improvement initiatives are implemented and completed across EMEA sites

  • Advanced degree (MBA or other)
  • Significant Bio/pharma experience needed, hematology / oncology or cell therapy experience desired
  • Background in account management, supply chain or operations
  • Extensive people management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change
  • Strategic thinking and leadership
  • Proven ability to operate and lead in a highly matrixed environment
  • Excellent communication and influence skills
  • Competence in Project Management
  • Understanding of hospital operations
  • Experience with Biologics development, manufacturing is a plus
  • TA disease and product knowledge preferred

Job location

  • The role is EMEA based and will involve travel (30-50%) within the home country and across the EMEA region
