The Scientist III supports routine processes related to the release of finished goods to distribution and supports non-routine special test requests and production qualifications. The Scientist III responsibilities include analytical testing, instrument troubleshooting, data and investigation review, training junior scientists, and leading in quality and compliance within the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates laboratory activity in support of routine testing, product release, complaint investigations, and non-conformance investigations.
- Performs testing on finished product and foreign matter using analytical instrumentation (i.e. HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, refractometer, optical microscope, SEM, NIR/IR microscope).
- Performs peer review of generated data for product disposition.
- Trains and mentors junior scientists in test method procedures and laboratory techniques.
- Assists in troubleshooting/calibration/maintenance of instrumentation during instrument lifecycle.
- Supports internal and external audits as a subject matter expert (SME) for all laboratory activities.
- Assists in the development and validation of new test methods, instrumentation, and laboratory techniques.
- Ensures conformance to company requirements and SOPs.
- Prepares or approves protocols, final reports, laboratory investigations, etc.
- Develops, writes, and revises internal department procedures.
Qualifiche
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline is required.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 4 years experience in a technical environment.
- Strong analytical instrumentation experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to conform to flexible work environment and adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to meet timelines and work with minimal supervision.
- A high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of statistics and ability to organize and analyze data.
- Understanding of quality and compliance with thorough knowledge of FDA, ISO, and USP requirements.
- Understanding of GLP, GDP, and GMP.
- Ability to distinguish color variation.
Other:
- This position may require up to 10% domestic travel.
