Job Description: Materials Engineering COOPJohnson & Johnson Vision Care is recruiting for an Engineering COOP in Jacksonville, FloridaMaterials Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated engineering student who can help our team for delivering a wide range of raw material characterization and qualification projects by performing a variety of engineering and research assignments. We want your technical expertise and active involvement in the planning, development, and design of materials, equipment and/or processes. The coop will review the progress and evaluate the data and present the results of multiple projects across various functional groups. The coop will coordinate raw material and contact lens testing and protocol requirements as necessary to achieve project completion. The coop will facilitate and conduct engineering assignments involving business continuity and cost improvement projects. The coop will act as an advocate for the continuous improvement of technology and processes. The Coop will adhere to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives. The position will give students multiple opportunities to work with both internal multi-functional teams as well as interact with the external partners and raw material suppliers.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, conducts and directs research, development or engineering assignments. Leads multiple projects and tasks across various disciplines.
  • Project management internally as well as outside vendors (travel if necessary).
  • Prepares equipment, process, safety and materials specifications and conducts technical analysis of vendor proposals.
  • Develops and implements material, equipment and/or process improvements that will improve product quality and yield, process sustainability and efficiency, and safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

QualificationsEducation:Current student of Chemical Engineering/Material Science and Engineering /Bioengineering /Polymer Science and Engineering or equivalent required experience. 0 to 3 years with a BS in Engineering or Science related field. Graduate school students are encouraged to apply.Experience and Skills:Required

In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:


  • Legally authorized to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (ex. H1-B, F-1).

  • Currently pursuing a University degree, completing minimum undergraduate sophomore year prior to internship or co-op start date.

  • Availability to work on site if the position requires it.

  • Availability to work full time (40 h/w) for the entire co-op or internship.

  • Having a graduation date after the contract end date.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Statistical design and analysis of experiments.Preferred:
  • Hearing, Visual Acuity, Inside Environmental Conditions, Other
  • Normal manufacturing (class 100,000) cleanroom environment.Other:Minitab or any statistical analysis tools
