Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM) is seeking an individual with a proactive and ambitious work ethic to join our team as a Government Affairs & Policy Lead . In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to actively contribute to a positive policy environment for innovation and drive the success of our Innovative Medicine business in Austria. As the Government Affairs & Policy Lead, you will be responsible for effectively interacting with key institutions, trade associations, patient organizations, and other relevant parties to enhance our reputation and shape a favorable business landscape.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

•    Assess health laws and policy initiatives at local and EU levels, and effectively share important information with relevant individuals within the organization.
•    Collaborate on advocacy plans for key issues, involving identifying key stakeholders and organizations, managing relationships, and fostering alliances.
•    Represent J&J IM in government and public engagement initiatives and events.
•    Foster long-term relationships with policy-makers and individuals involved in decision-making processes, while assisting business leaders in effectively connecting with the external environment.
•    Actively participate in trade associations to advocate for J&J IM interests.
•    Initiate and develop relevant documents, position papers, letters, etc.
•    Collaborate with different individuals from different business units, group functions, and external organizations to come to a consensus on business priorities and messaging.
•    Develop and implement governmental strategies pertaining to national legislation, programs, and institutions to establish J&J IM as the preferred partner.
•    Leverage internal knowledge and capabilities through establishing an internal network.
•    Participate in relevant standing committees/working groups of trade associations.


•    University degree, preferably in law or political sciences; master's degree or PhD is a plus.
•    More than 10 years’ experience in the Austrian healthcare system.
•    Demonstrated expertise in external communications and government affairs, including building relationships and collaborating with government officials and institutions.
•    Familiarity with government relations strategies and tactics.
•    Extensive connections with key individuals and a deep understanding of the healthcare system in Austria, along with knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation in the EU and related policies.
•    Demonstrated experience in leading and collaborating with others.
•    Strong analytical and business judgment skills.
•    Demonstrated expertise in issues management.
•    Ability to effectively lead multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving goals.
•    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in German and English.
