Position Components

Janssen Research & Development (“JRD”), a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting for summer interns, Janssen R&D Data Science & Digital Health, Real-World Evidence (“RWE”). In this role, you will partner with key businesses across Janssen to apply advanced data science and analytics to answer key research questions.  As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare. You will be a member of a dynamic team comprising data scientists and subject matter experts to create and iterate on data science solutions. You will be exposed to projects on the development of Advanced Analytics & Algorithms (Adv A&A) as machine learning and deep learning models in healthcare (e.g., disease identification, patient stratification, disease progression, forecasting) based on RWD that will provide key insights on our pipeline assets. The primary location for this position is flexible – either; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; New York City, NY; San Diego, CA; South San Francisco, CA; or remote with up to 10% travel.


Minimum qualifications: 
•    Currently pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field (e.g., operations research, systems engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, biostatistics, artificial intelligence, computer science, health economics, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, or similar)
•    Experience with one of the following: machine learning, deep learning, causal inference methods, statistical modeling, multivariate regression and classification or forecasting
•    Hands-on technical data analysis and machine learning modeling experience
•    Proficiency in the following programming languages: Python or R, and SQL.
•    Strong technical communication and presentation skills.

Preferred qualifications:
Experience in one or more of the following - 
•    Experience in one of the following domains, EHR, insurance claims, clinical trial or registry data 
•    Experience delivering on Data Science projects using simulation or predictive technologies, forecasting, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, or machine learning
•    Familiarity with and exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes with one or more of the following therapeutic areas: oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, neuroscience, pulmonary hypertension, or infectious disease
