Position Overview:

As an integral part of J&J MedTech Supply Chain organization that aspires to be the undisputed partner of choice for our customers as the world’s best-in-class supply chain, the regional Senior Manager, Wound Closure & Biosurgery is responsible for the overall planning processes and end-to-end supply chain orchestration for the 2 platforms Wound Closure and Biosurgery within Surgery Business Unit.

The main responsibility of this role is to optimize supply chain performance, consistently meet customer expectations and responsible for Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes for Wound Closure & Biosurgery.

This role is a critical leadership position, responsible for the alignment of APAC Wound Closure & Biosurgery with the APAC Surgery Supply Chain, APAC Commercial and Global Supply Chain on strategy alignment and executions.

Expectation of the role is that he/she is the primary liaison with Global Supply Chain, Global Plan, Regional Commercial and market supply chain teams for accountable platforms (Wound Closure & Biosurgery) to ensure achievement of aligned business goals and objectives.


Key Responsibilities


With expertise in End-to-End Supply Chain process improvement, this individual will lead the Regional Planning Team and proactively coordinate cross-functional resources required for THREE major areas:


1. Customer Focus:

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to understand customer needs and translate external customer requirements into supply chain deliverables
  • Set aligned target & manage service performance metrics for the specific platform (e.g., OTiFD, Backorder, MAPE/Bias, Inventory, ESO, GP etc.) and drive continuous improvements in this area
  • Accountable for Wound Closure Healing & Biosurgery E2E supply chain - demand, supply and distribution planning processes that drive cost-effective inventory availability and gross profit, whilst ensuring customer service through a robust IBP process; provides leadership and guidance to teams and APAC markets
  • Partner across Local/Regional/Global stakeholders to execute IBP according to blueprint. Drive balancing demand vs. supply decisions + eventual product allocations
  • Responsible for regional Wound Closure and Biosurgery IBP with regional Surgery IBP/DP Lead and global SC & Plan teams
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with finance and commercial partners to reconcile and synchronize demand with sales expectations, delivering optimal customer service to end customers whilst managing inventory to target level
  • Provide clear leadership vision to teams and markets to attain process efficiencies by continually reducing forecast error whilst increasing customer service performance
  • Initiate actions/programs to drive significant improvement of service KPIs & agility (e.g., direct-ship, Inventory entitlement model, etc.), be accountable on the regional execution through strong collaboration with Global, markets and functional partners
  • Partnering with Regional Surgery IBP/DP Leader, align Regional Consensus Demand Forecast for Operational and Strategic Planning for Global Manufacturing Capacity Planning with right E2E Network and Inventory
  • Liaise with Global, Market & Commercial partners to drive resolution of major supply issues for Wound Closure & Biosurgery platforms
  • Lead & Manage the regional execution of Wound Closure & Biosurgery Global & Market Transformational Program
  • Identify and prioritize customer centric End-to-End Supply Chain solutions, whilst simplifying and standardizing for impact (Faster, Fewer, Bigger, Better)

2. Excellence in Execution:

  • Drive changes and new ways of E2E Value Chain thinking, introducing and leveraging best practices, learning models and process excellence principles, all in the pursuit of core planning and end-to-end supply chain excellence
  • Develop and optimize to ensure that appropriate planning processes and systems are in place to execute the planning operations
  • Improve overall supply network agility to increase our ability to respond to Customer needs in local markets. Ensures initiation of corrective actions with the functional organizations when performance varies to target
  • Collaborate with Global Plan and Functional Teams (Quality, RA, PLAN, SOURCE, MAKE, DELIVER, IT) to develop and implement end-to-end supply chain excellence and customer service, including developing product supply strategy to effectively meet market requirements (labeling, late-stage customization, lead-times, cycle-times, service levels)
  • Establish processes for managing the Tender Planning, RA License expiry & renewal etc.
  • Interface & manage the escalation point between Regional Franchise Supply Chain, Finance and Wound Closure & Biosurgery platform Global Plan & Commercial Partners
  • Ensure understanding and communication on business consequences arising from trade-offs concerning the planning activities through applying scenario planning and issue resolution for decision-making as required
  • Organize and present information that ensures timely forecasting communications and common goals and objectives across all functional areas and markets
  • Lead and support supply chain customer solution initiatives that enable business plan attainment for current and future years
  • Establish and consistently use FPX methodology / LEAN / Six Sigma to drive Execution Excellence, delivering cross functional end-to-end initiatives
  • Ability to manage resources & processes in dynamic scenarios

3. Strategic Platform and Talent Development:

  • Represent the customer and serve as interface between the Global Plan, Global Supply Chain and Regional Supply Chain Team, including a strong connection to local and regional organization
  • Shared accountability on metrics that drive Surgery value (Compliance & Quality, Customer Service, Growth, Efficiency) and Wound Closure & Biosurgery business performance
  • Work with Global Plan, Platform Leads and Value Stream Leads on efficient product life-cycle management and ensure continuous complexity reduction and “waste” removal across end-to-end value chain that is impacting downstream in region and markets
  • Collaborate with regional commercial partner on NPI (ensuring Speed-to-Market) and Lifecycle Management (LCM) activities and shared accountability for business impact on GP including inventory, CIP attainment
  • Support and own talent development for self and team, to build capabilities in the region and create a strong pipeline of leaders
  • Supervise, coach and guide direct and indirect reports to continuously build professional skills (e.g., E2E supply chain excellence, translating data to insights, advance analytics and digital solutions and mine data from appropriate systems and carry out complex analysis for business requests) and leadership capabilities (e.g., articulation and influencing, developing leaders)

  • Demonstrated depth of business unit product knowledge and insights of business unit customers.

  • Effective interdependent and proactive partnering with key stakeholders in Ethicon and broader Medical Devices Supply Chain Organization on a regional and global basis.
  • Proven talent development champion - plays a critical role in building organizational capability in Ethicon (e.g.: End-to-End Lean, IBP, S&OP, FPX, NPI and product life cycle management)
  • Ability to deliver on platform performance metrics and shared goals in alignment with Ethicon Supply Chain Performance Metrics.

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering, Business or Supply Chain, MBA Specialization in Supply Chain & Operation Management or Graduate degree in Science, Business, Engineering (strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in complex Supply Chain environment
  • Must have 5 or more years people / team management experience
  • Hands-on working experience with strong track record in at least 2 of the following areas required: supply / demand planning / IBP and S&OP management / financial processes / MRP systems / inventory / distribution / order management
  • Proven track record in delivering ‘Best in Class’ business results through innovative customer focused solutions
  • Demonstrate a very good understanding of the entire Value Chain, and a keen understanding of how both commercial and supply chain decisions impact the Customer and financial performance.
  • Problem solving mentality and “can do” attitude. Strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, reasoning skills and the ability to master complexity is required
  • Able to analyze multiple data sources in high pressure environment to give prompt recommendations & solutions.
  • Strong influencing and articulation skills to enable effective communication and gain alignment with stakeholders. Ability to articulate and simplify Supply Chain challenges to all stakeholders, quick decision-making, to work under time pressure, and the capacity to make good judgement in situations. Accuracy and prioritization in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • Must have experience in planning processes, inventory management and financial knowledge.
  • Strong collaboration, partnering and negotiation skills. Able to work with diverse group of people, and act as a change agent. Seek for feedback to ensure alignment across stakeholders, followed by prompt execution on positive actions.
  • Interpersonal communication skills and team building is required.
  • Superior planning and organization skills. The ability to master prioritization process by seeking sponsors and partners feedback is required.
  • Leading and developing high performing cross-functional and matrix teams
  • Proficiency using ERP / planning system (e.g. SAP, APO, OMP, Tableau, Power BI) experience in implementation and deployment of tools is preferred
  • This position can be Singapore or Pune based and may require up to 10% travel
