Johnson & Johnson Robotics was established in 2020 with the integration of Auris Health, Verb Surgical, C-SATS, and Ethicon. At RAD, we are using robotics to enhance healthcare providers’ abilities and improve diagnoses, treatments, and recovery times for patients. This leader will act as advisor to the Global Head of Robotics R&D and will collaborate with other R&D leaders to identify, assess and optimize operational processes and strategies to unlock the full potential of R&D innovation and delivery. Other responsibilities include providing periodic strategic updates, budget and business reviews, and action plans with the Robotics R&D Leadership Team and leading all aspects of their implementation. The leader will moreover create and drive a functional excellence roadmap for the Robotics R&D organization, represent the R&D organization in Product and Technology Roadmap processes, and act as a liaison to other functional organizations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Delivery: Create and drive a functional excellence roadmap for the Robotics R&D organization, delivering operational excellence
- Collaboration & Alignment: Strong partnership within both the R&D function and cross-functionally, to ensure successful integration of roadmaps across multiple products
- Leadership: As an advisor to the Global Head of Robotics R&D, leadership is a critical component of the role. Grounded in ensuring strong communication channels and partnerships, the ability to influence at all levels will be paramount.

Qualifications
- BS/MS or equivalent experience in engineering /science/technical field or equivalent is required
- 10 years of experience working in a technology related field is required
- Previous experience supporting senior management in an advisor capacity is highly preferred
- Experience with the delivery of complex technology-enabled products is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills & executive presence, organizational savvy, and successful record of leading by influence is required.
- Broad knowledge of R&D processes over the technology product life-cycle is required.
- Ability to positively impact operational efficiency and business results is required
- Consistent track record of acting as a change agent and adapting to organizational and business issues is required.
- Knowledge / deep understanding of Project/Portfolio Management systems and tools is an asset.
- Previous regulated industry experience is highly desired.
- In-depth understanding of finance and general resource management principles including demand forecasting across a number of diverse line functions is preferred
- Critical thinking to drive business results while leading by influence is required.
- The ability and willingness to be based in Santa Clara CA is required.
- Up to 15% domestic and international travel will be required
The anticipated base pay for this role is $197,000 to $317,400.
