As a Sr. Product Development Technician you will support innovation of Abiomed’s next generation of innovative heart pumps and accessories by supporting complex engineering activities, including performing product testing and fabricating engineering prototypes. You will work in a dynamic fast paced environment that is disrupting the medical device industry by bringing breakthrough technologies to market. This role focuses on the Impella ECP™ or “Expandable Cardiac Power”. The Impella ECP™  is Abiomed’s smallest heart pump that does not compromise on flow by utilizing unique expanding pump technology.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Setup, execute, and document product performance testing
  • With guidance, analyze product performance data to draw conclusions
  • Develop, fabricate, and support the continuous improvement of test fixtures and procedures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Work alongside engineers to complete complex failure analysis
  • Fabricate engineering prototypes by following modified work instructions of existing product lines

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required. AS in a technical field preferred. 
  • 4-6+ years of related experience.  Medical device experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner under minimal supervision.
  • Experience with complex computer aided industrial design applications,  CAD (Solidworks) preferred 
  • Inquisitive problem solver who is interested in troubleshooting problems and improving for next time
  • A passion for medical devices and making a significant positive impact on the lives of our patients
  • Experience executing tasks while using a microscope preferred
  • Experience with basic machining preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP desired.
